Intersection-union Tests in Dissolution Proole Testing
نویسنده
چکیده
For k = 1; : : : ; p, let t k denote the time points at which dissolution prooles are collected , and let X ik and Y jk represent the proportion of drug dissolved from dosage unit i for the reference drug and for dosage unit j for the test drug respectively, We assume that the samples are drawn from independent multivariate p normal populations with mean vectors X and Y respectively and the same variance covariance matrix. We consider the problem of testing H 0 : where is a xed constant. An easy to implement size intersection-union test (IUT) is presented for this problem and power comparisons are made by means of simulations between the procedures recommended by the FDA and the IUT given. A method of sample size calculation for the IUT is presented.

P 3 Approach to Intersection - Union Testing of Hypotheses 1
Recent applications of Statistics often leads one to encounter testing problems where the original hypothesis of interest comprises of the union of several sub-hypothesis. In the framework of such Intersection-Union testing of hypothesis, in contrast to the usual Union-Intersection framework, a subhypothesis therein may specify a parameter or a function of some of the parameters of the underlyi...

For i = 1, ... ,p, let Xi!, ... ,Xini denote independent random samples from normal populations. The ith population has unknown mean Jli and unknown variance a;. We consider the sign testing problem of testing Ho : Jli :::; ai, for some i = 1, ... ,p, versus HI : Jli > ai, for all i = 1, ... ,p, where al,." ,ap are fixed constants. Here, HI might represent p different standards that a product m...
متن کاملBioequivalence Trials, Intersection–Union Tests and Equivalence Confidence Sets
The bioequivalence problem is of practical importance because the approval of most generic drugs in the United States and the European Community (EC) requires the establishment of bioequivalence between the brand-name drug and the proposed generic version. The problem is theoretically interesting because it has been recognized as one for which the desired inference, instead of the usual signifi...
متن کاملIntroduction to Intersection-union Tests
The Intersection-Union Test (IUT ) has become increasingly popular, especially through its application in bioequivalence testing. Here we will provide a basic introduction and discuss some properties of the IUT . Since this method is based upon a combination of tests, there may be a concern for the need of a multiplicity adjustment to adequately control the overall type-I error rate. We will ad...
متن کاملLikelihood Ratio Tests and Intersection- Union Tests
The likelihood ratio test (LRT) method is a commonly used method of hypothesis test construction. The intersection-union test (JUT) method is a less commonly used method. We will explore some relationships between these two methods. We show that, under some conditions, both methods yield the same test. But, we also describe conditions under which the size-a JUT is uniformly more powerful than t...
